Part
of the Delta's agriculture consists
of vast fields of grapes growing
in the rich soil, handy to the
irrigation waters supplied by the
Delta's rivers and sloughs. California
Delta vineyards are thriving, enjoying
the warm daytime sunshine and the
evening cooling effects of breezes
that are funneled in through the
Carqueniz Straits.
Some
vineyards here date back to the early
1800s. More than a few grapes grown
in the California Delta regions find
their way to the highly touted vintners
in the Napa Valley. Wines made in our
own Delta region are becoming more
recognized for their high quality.
This region is as well known for its
wine as it is for its other agriculture
and its recreational waterways.
